Bamboo Airways gains December domestic market share to 12.3%

The market share of the newly-launched carrier in December 2019 was 6 times higher than its 2% in January 2019.

The figures indicate that domestic aviation market share of Vietnam Airlines and other carriers will be affected.

Vietnam Airlines’ market share fell to 33.3% from approximately 34.5% earlier 2019 while Vietjet Air, which dominant the market, has gained the share with 42.2%, a bit higher than 41.2% in January.

Jestar Pacific and VASCO hold 10.6% and 1.9% market share respectively.

The domestic aviation market is expected to witness changes with the participation of Bamboo Airways, which has targeted 30% share of the market.

The market reported an average growth of 13% in 2019 while the airport infrastructure is still limited. Number of passenger through airport system was estimated at 115.5 million passengers, up 11.8 %.

Vietnamese airlines transported 55 million passengers, up 11.4% and 435 thousand tons of cargo, up 7.6% compared to 2018.
