PM Phuc approves $2bln expressway linking Can Tho and Southernmost Ca Mau province

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the Ministry of Transport and localities to build feasibility study on building the 130km Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway, statement said.

The road which allows speed up to 100 kilometers per hour will be developed between 2021 and 2025. Part of the project will be built under the public-private-partnership mode.

In the first section of the road between Can Tho City and Bac Lieu Province, developers will use State budget. For second section of the expressway, from Bac Lieu to Ca Mau, the government calls participation of private sector under under the public-private-partnership model, statement said.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the government of Ca Mau province prepare for the investment and plan to mobilize social resources following the PPP Law to present to the central government in September.

The expressway is among several road projects completed or being built, planned in the Mekong Delta.

Traffic will be opened for the 51-kilometer Lo Te – Rach Soi Expressway that links Can Tho city and Kien Giang province in September.

The Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway in Tien Giang will also opened end of this year, connecting the existing Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway.
